Abstract
[Objective] To explore the tissue damage of acupoint in rabbits by three basic manipulations of acupuncture techniques (lifting-thrusting, twirling and mixed lifting-thrusting and twirling) in acupuncture treatment. [Methods] Thirty-six rabbits were randomly divided into the lifting-thrusting (LT) group, the twirling (TW) group, mixed lifting-thrusting and twirling (M) group and normal control group, with 9 rats in each group. Needling the Zusanli point (ST36) was performed in LT group,TW group and M group with three manipulations. 10 days later the animals were euthanized. The pathologic examination of neurons and muscle tissue and amount of inflammatory cells were observed. [Results] The three needling groups were not different in the grade of inflammatory cells infiltration. The results indicated that thd nerve injury of the morphology of the pathological tissues in the lifting-thrusting group. The nerver injury in lifting-thrusting group and twirling group was more severe. [Conclusion] On the premise of no difference in acupuncture stimulation using lifting-thrusting manipulation can reduce the damage of nerve tissue in acupoint.
