| Abstract

| [Objective] To observe the effect of modified Maxing Shigan decoction on senile pneumonia. [Methods] Elderly patients with pneumonia were randomly divided into control and treatment group, treating with Western medicine, having anti-inflammatory, relieving cough, eliminating phlegm effect and modified Maxing Shigan decoction respectively. The treatment course was 10 days. The curative effect, WBC, the GR%, CRP change and the time of symptoms beginning to improve before and after treatment were observed. [Results] The total effective rate in treatment was 93.33%, significantly higher than that in the control group(75.56%). There was a significant difference between these two groups (P<0.05). Inflammatory markers and the time of symptoms beginning to improve in the treatment group were better than that in the control group (P<0.05). [Conclusion] Modified Maxing Shigan decoction has significant clinical efficacy in adjuvant treatment of senile pneumonia. It can shorten the insistence time of clinical symptoms. |
