| Abstract
|
| [Objective] To observe the effects of Buyang Huanwu decoction on the histology of heart and liver in rabbits with vulnerable plaque of arterial sclerosis. [Methods] The vulnerable arterial sclerotic plaque was reproduced by feeding diet with high cholesterol lipid and injuring the endothelium of aortic sacculus by pulling. The rabbits were divided into three groups: sham operation group, model group and Buyang Huanwu decoction group. The experiment was lasted for 10 weeks. At the end after weighing the animals were killed. Weighting the heard and liver and calculating the cardiac somatic index (CI) and hepatosomatic index (HI) were performed. The samples of heart and liver were collected for Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and the histological observation. [Results] 1) Buyang Huanwu decoction could effectively reduce both CI and HI compared with the model group (P<0.05). 2) The histological observation found that Buyang Huanwu decoction could effectively reduce the edema of myocardial cell and liver cell. [Conclusion] Buyang Huanwu decoction can effectively reduce the swelling of the myocardial cells and hepatic cells, and the mechanism of which remains further studied. |
