Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the antibacteria activity of propolis on different concentration, Bacillus thuringiensis, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli Micrococcus luteus, Streptococcus white, Proteus Mirabilis was used in the testing. [Methods] Each plate which smeared with culture mediums was designed with six tested bacterium, and four different concentrations of propolis and two contrasts was used for bacteriostatic test in each testing plate. The sensitive and antibacteria activity was tested by bacteriostatic ring which was measured and recorded in each group after 12 hours. [Results] It was found that the diameters(in mm) of bacteriostatic rings in each plate with different concentrations of propolis were respectively recorded as follows. In the same concentration, external use of Propolis has significant antibacteria activit, especiouly in the concentration of 10%~20%. Bacillus subtilis>Bacillus thuringiensis> Micrococcus luteus>Proteus. mirabilis>Streptococcus white>Escherichia coli. [Conclusion] It suggests that antibacterial activity of propolis against all tested bacterium weakens along with the concentration. In the same concentration, the antibacteria activity of propolis was very sensitive to the six tested bacterium in different degree, and the antibacteria activity of propolis to Bacillus thuringiensis as well as Bacillus subtilis was the best. The external use of antipyresis and detumescence can be provide by this experiment.
