| Abstract
|
| [Objective] In this study we investigated whether baicalin could exert anticonvulsant effects in the pentylenetetrazol-induced convulsions in mice.[Methods] Mice were administered with PTZ subcutaneously at a dose of 100 mg/kg to induce convulsions.Baicalin were adiministrated 30 min prior to PTZ to evaluate its effects.[Results] The results were as followings: baicalin at the dose of 100 mg/kg delayed significantly the latency to first minimal clonic seizure, generalized tonic-clonic seizures and decreased the mortality as compared with control group.[Conclusion] These results indicate that the remarkable anticonvulsant effects of baicalin may be a potential supplement in the prevention and treatment of epilepsy and brain injury induced by epilepsy. |
