| Abstract
|
| [Objective] To observe the clinical effect of Tonglian Decoction (TD) I combined with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) in the treatment of esophageal cancer in middle or advanced period. [Methods] The 38 patients suffered from esophageal cancer in middle or advanced period were enrolled in the trial. All patients were randomly divided into treatment group (21 cases) and controlled group (17 cases). 3DCRT was adopted in both groups, being (56~66) Gy/(25~30) times/(5~6) weeks in the total dosage. TD was added to the patients in treatment group, one dosage, twice per day. The usage period began at the starting of radiotherapy until 1 month after radiotherapy. [Results] In the aspect of tumor size control, there was a significant difference of the response rate (RR) between two groups (P<0.05), but there was no difference (P>0.05) in the side effects. The quality of life (KPS score) in the treatment group was improved more significantly than that in the controlled group (P<0.05). [Conclusion] TD combined with 3DCRT in the treatment of esophageal cancer in middle or advanced period can increase the therapeutic effect and quality of life. |
