| Abstract

| [Objective] To explore the relationship between essence and health state based on the essence theory of traditional Chinese medicine. [Methods] Consulting the ancient and modern literature concerning essence theory in TCM and summary, putting in order and analysis were performed. [Results] The meanings of essence of the human was summarized up, the physiological functions of the essence was given, the health state of the essence and the methods for consolidating and controlling were summed up. [Conclusion] The human health is closely related to essence. It plays an important role throughout all the course of life in human. The essence not only provides the substance basis of the health of the human body and the health condition of essence can also held forth an insurance for the health of human body. Furthermore, the proper consolidating and controlling of the essence can improve the health level. |
