Clinical observation on acupuncture in treating vascular dementia after cerebral infarction

Abstract
    [Objective] To explore the clinical effect of acupuncture in treating vascular dementia. [Methods] The 128 diagnosed patients were enrrolled into this stydy and randomly divided into treatment or control group, 64 patients in each goup. All the patients were given routine treatment. On this basis the patients in treatment group were given acupuncture. The changes of MMSE HDS and ADL scale before and after treatment were compared. [Results] After different treatment the score of MMSE and HDS were all significantly improved, while the ADL score was decreased in different degree. The curative effects in treatment group were all superior than control group. [Conclusion] Acupuncture has significant inproving effect on clinical syndrome and the defect degree of nerve function for middle and old patients with vascular dementia after cerebral ischemic stroke.
