Clinical observation on abdominal massage in treating functional constipation in elderly patients

Abstract
    [Objective] To investigate the curative effect of abdominal massage therapy for elderly patients with functional constipation. [Methods] 30 patients met the diagnostic standard were randomly divided into abdominal massage therapy group and control group using randomized drawing, each group 30 cases. Treatment group was treated with abdominal massage and push back, while the control group with oral Tongbianling capsule. [Results] The total effective rate of treatment group was 93.33%, while in control group was 63.33%. The total efficiency rate between two groups had significant difference (P<0.01). [Conclusion] Abdominal massage has a good effect in treating senile functional constipation, and no drug adverse effect and toxicity are found.
