Abstract
|
[Objective] To observe the clinical effect of syndrome-differentiated acupuncture on blood sugar and islands function in patients with type 2 diabetes. [Methods] The 160 patients, met the inclusion criteria of type 2 diabetes, were enrolled. According to the length of the disease course they were divided into group with primary diabetes, group for 1~3 years, group for 3~5 years. The patients in each group were randomly divided into treatment group and control group again. The patients in control group were treated with routine sugar-lowering treatment. The treatment group was treated by syndrome-differentiated acupuncture in addition to the treatment mentioned above in control group. Two weeks later, the blood sugar, symptom integral score, HOMA index, the islands function in the first phase and in the second phase of two groups were compared. [Results] The total effective rate of treatment group was superior to the control group. (P<0.05) In the aspect of blood sugar control and symptom improvement, the treatment group was better than the control group. (P<0.05) In HOMA index and the islands function in the first phase the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group. (P<0.01 or P<0.05) with significant difference statistically. [Conclusion] The syndrome-differentiated acupuncture can effectively improve the symptoms of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, effectively control the blood glucose, has a certain role in the restoration islands function also. So the acupuncture method has some application values and is worth further studying. |
