Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the effects of minor Radix Bupleuri decoction on exocrine pancreatic function in rats with chronic pancreatitis. [Methods] Thirty male Wistar rats, weighing 180~200 g were randomly divided into three groups: control group, medicinal herbal group, model group. The model group and the medicinal group were injected with Dibutyltin dichloride(DBTC) solution into the caudal vein at a dose of 7 mg/kg body weight. The control group was treated with vehicle at the same volume. The medicinal herbal group lavaged with modified minor Radix Bupleuri decoction for 28 days. The n-benzoyl-tyrosyl para-aminobenzoic acid (BT-PABA) test was carried out to evaluate the exocrine pancreatic function. Feces was collected to detect the FE-1. Then rats were sacrificed and the pancreas tissue was harvested for histological examination. The activity of amylase and lipase was detected at same time. [Results] Compared with the control group, the levels of FE-1and and the excretion rate of PABA were reduced in rat with chronic pancreatitis. Compared with the model group, treatment of the modified Minor Radix Bupleuri decoction could significantly reduce the activity of amylase and lipase(P<0.05). It could increase the levels of FE-1(P<0.05) and the excretion rate of PABA. [Conclusion] The modified Minor Radix Bupleuri decoction can improve the exocrine pancreatic function in rat with chronic pancreatitis.
