Abstract
[Objective] To observe the prophylactic effect of Mongolian drug Wei Shu An on gastric ulcer induced by restraint and water immersion. [Methods] Male Wistar rats were divided into normal, treatment and control group. In normal group, no medicine and stress of water immersion were given, while in control group starch powder was received. After continuum oral administration of Mongolian drug Wei Shu An for 7 days a model of gastric ulcer induced with restraint and water immersion was established after stopping feeding for 24 h. At the end of experiment the stomach sample was taken. The gastric mucosa and the degree of injury were observed by naked eye. The ulcer area of the gastric mucosa was analyzed by Image J software and compared. The serum contents of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) in rats with gastric ulcer was measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and compared. [Results] Mongolian drug Wei Shu An could inhibit the formation of gastric ulcer induced by restraint and water immersion stress for 3 h in rats. The content of serum TGF-β1 in Wei Shu An group were significantly lower than that in the control group. [Conclusion] Mongolian drug Wei Shu An has an inhibiting effect on gastric ulcer induced by restraint and water immersion stress for 3 h in rats.
