Based on years of clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine, carrying forward the ZHANG Zhong-jing's argument of "unsmooth blood circulation results in water retention", Professor ZHANG Bo-li think phlegm and blood stasis is the important factor of illness occurrence and development. The theory of phlegm and blood stasis can guide clinical treatment. Its basic pathogenesis is weakened body resistance.
