Abstract
[Objective] The aim of the present study was to investigate the protective effect of astragalus polysaccharides APS on myocardial ischemia reperfusion injury and the underlying mechanism. [Methods] The 48 SD rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: sham operation group (Sham group), myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (MI/R) group, APS (300 mg/kg) group and APS(600 mg/kg) group. Ischemia was produced by ligating the left anterior descending coronary artery. Myocardial infarct size was determined; myocardial pathological changes were observed, TNF-α, L-6, p65 and IκB protein expression was determined. [Results] Pretreatment of APS before MI/R could attenuate the morphological change of myocardial tissue, decreased the infracted sized, the content of TNF-αand IL-6, p65 protein content, and increased the IκB protein expression. [Conclusion] Astragalus polysaccharides pretreatment could attenuate MI/R injury through inhibition of the NF-κB signaling pathway, which lead to reduced inflammatory reaction.
