Abstract
    Textual Research on Diseases' Origin was written by LIU Quan-de in Ming dynasty, which consists of 13 chapters, involving textual research on 74 types of diseases' origin, including their etiologies, pathogenesis, disease's nature, therapeutic methods, medication recipes and etc. This book was written based on the fundamental theories from several ancient books of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). The author summed up the academic thoughts of the TCM experts over the previous generations, integrated his own original theories and clinical experiences, discussed on spleen system theory in diarrhea treatment, suggested holistic diagnosis and treatment after full consideration of the disease's actual situation, and emphasized on clinical usage of medications. The author's academic thoughts has fully displayed the TCM principles of whole entity concepts, holistic diagnosis and treatment, which organically unified the etiologies, therapeutic methods, recipes, medications, and served as a guideline in clinical usage. Thus, Textual Research on Diseases' Origin is one of the premium references in TCM's etiology and pathogenesis study.
