Abstract
[Objective] To assess the effects of the comprehensive intervention for hypertension patients in constitution of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theories. [Methods] In this quasi-experiment study, 74 hypertension patients received comprehensive intervention about constitutional of TCM, which based on the identification of constitutional types, for 6 months. The changes about constitutional type scores of TCM and blood pressures were observed and analyzed. [Results] After the intervention for 6 months, gentleness type scores have been increased significantly (P<0.05), yin-deficiency type (P<0.01), phlegm-wetness type (P<0.01), and blood-stasis type (P<0.01) scores have been decreased significantly. Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure have been dropped 14.26 mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) and 6.87 mmHg on average respectively (P<0.01). [Conclusion] The comprehensive intervention about constitutional of TCM had a positive effect in hypertension patients by improving the conditions of biased constitutions and reducing the blood pressures.
