Abstract
[Objective] The aim of the present study was to reveal the intervention of Buyang Huanwu decoction as a representative soup to oxaliplatin-induced neuropathic pain using oxaliplatin induced rat chronic neuropathic pain model. [Methods] Sixty healthy adult male and clean grade rats were randomly divided into four groups including Blank group, oxaliplatin group, Buyang Huanwu decoction control group and Buyang Huanwu decoction treatment group. Body weight measurements and the thermal pain threshold of rats were assessed in rats of the four groups. [Results] The thermal pain threshold of Buyang Huanwu decoction treatment group compared with that in model group was significantly different in second week. Buyang Huanwu decoction can antagonize change of thermal pain threshold and body weight in rats induced by oxaliplatin chemotherapy. [Conclusion] The present experimental study has confirmed Buyang Huanwu treated neuropathic pain oxaliplatin-induced is fully consistent with the basic theory of Chinese medicine. Buyang Huanwu decoction has broad application prospects.
