Abstract
|
[Objective] To investigate the effects of preventive administration of Momordica charantia, Panax ginseng and Momordica Charantia-Panax ginseng herb on glucolipid metabolism and insulin resistance in high-fat diet induced obesity mice, and providing experimental evidence for the herb couple improving obesity and insulin resistance, therefore prevent T2DM. [Methods] Using insulin resistance model of high fat induced obesity mice, and fed Momordica charantia, ginseng, the herb couple respectively, with metformin as positive control. The food intake and body weight were measured every week. After 16 weeks drug intervention, the fat index, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), fasting insulin (FINS) and blood lipid were investigated; the level of insulin resistance was estimated by homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and insulin sensitivity index (ISI); the level of regulating blood sugar was observed by oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT); histopathological changes of the adipose tissue were observed by HE staining. [Results] Ginseng can significantly improve insulin resistance. Momordica charantia can obviously reduce the FPG, weight and subcutaneous fat. The herb couple can obviously reduce the FINS and subcutaneous fat. Above intervention groups improved fat cells' form of obese mice in different extent. [Conclusion] Ginseng can significantly improve insulin resistance in obesity mice, Momordica charantia can effectively reduce the FPG and weight, the herb couple have more advantages to reduce its FINS. |
