Discussion of traditional Chinese medicine regularity for gout

Abstract
    [Objective] To investigate the regularity and characteristics of prescriptions for treating gout order to provide the references for the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment of gout. [Methods] This article searched the related patent literatures in recent 10 years. The inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria of the 484 papers were classified and then their efficacy,property and flavor and meridian distributions were founded with Excel software for statistical analysis. [Results] The highest frequency drugs are poria cocos and achyranthes bidentata, angelica, accounting for more than 85.96% of all herbs. The main drugs were those for dampness-disinhibiting medicinal,accounting for 29.68%, followed by invigorating blood circulation and eliminating stasis, tonifying and antipyretics drug. These three kinds of drugs accounted for 48.60%. As for the meridian distribution, the liver meridian drugs were most commonly used, followed by the lung and stomach, spleen, kidney meridians drugs. The five meridians drugs accounted for 74.76%. In terms of the drug tastes, sweet taste was the most common, followed by the pungent and bitter drugs, all the three flavors accounting for 62.56%. From the drugs nature, warm drugs were the first, followed by cold and general natures drugs, all of them accounting for 69.65%. From the perspective of TCM syndrome types are mainly: damp and hot accumulate knot of syndrome accounting for 45.95%, blood stasis block accounting for 24.48%, liver and kidney deficiency syndrome accounting for 17.75%, excessive dampness due to deficiency in spleen accounting for 11.83% and so on. [Conclusion] From the regularity of drugs, we could conclude that the commonly tonifying spleen and kidney, removing dampness and invigorating blood circulation, eliminating stasis and clearing heat and soothing liver are the main treatments.
