Abstract
|
Baihu decoction has been used to treat four major symptoms which were high fever, extreme thirst, excessive perspiration and bounding pulse. However, certain scholar disagrees with this with the view that this four major symptoms should be treated with Baihu Renshen decoction instead and that the four major symptoms did not match the Baihu decoction syndrome as described in Shang Han Lun. By comparing Shang Han Lun and Wen Bing Tiao Bian, it was found that to understand the argument on whether the four major symptoms should be treated by Baihu Renshen decoction, one should examine the different understanding of the function of Renshen researched by both Zhang Zhongjing and Wu Jutong; Besides that, the treatment of Baihu decoction to the four major symptom was based on Wen Bing Tiao Bian, where it does not matches the description of symptom in Shang Han Lun. However, due to the fact that both had the same pathogenic factor, Baihu decoction is suitable to be used to treath both syndrome. |
