Abstract
|
[Objective] To investigate the application value of infrared thermography in the treatment of low back pain from osteoporosis.[Methods] The 80 eligible subjects were randomly divided into two groups. The control group was treated by taking Caltrate D, calcitriol and alendronate sodium orally. The study group, on the basis of the treatment of the control group, was treated with acupuncture at the corresponding jiaji points in the low back pain distribution. The courses of two groups were both 4 weeks. VAS, pressure pain index and mean temperature of thermal map were measured before and after treatment in two groups. The differences were compared within and between the groups. The correlation between VAS and mean temperature of thermal map was analyzed.[Results] The VAS score and the mean temperature of thermal map had significant positive correlation (P<0.05). The dfference of VAS, pressure pain index, mean temperature of thermal map before and after treatment within two groups are all significant (P<0.05). Between two groups, there are significant differences in the VAS score and pressure pain index after both 2 and 4 weeks of treatment (P<0.05); and no significant difference in the mean temperature of thermal map after 4 weeks of treatment (P>0.05), but the difference of the variation of the mean temperature after 4 weeks of treatment is significant (P<0.05).[Conclusion] To some extent, the mean temperature of thermal map can be used as a quantitative indicator to describe the degree of low back pain from osteoporosis. Acupuncture at Jiaji acupoints can help to accelerate the improvement of the symptoms of low back pain from osteoporosis. |
