Abstract
|
The pathogen of dampness is based on abnormal water metabolism in the body. Therefore,it is closely related to the physiology and pathology of the spleen and stomach. Doctors of all dynasties have attached great importance to it and often treated it on the basis of the spleen and stomach. LIUWansu,a doctor of Jin and Yuan Dynasty, had a lot of clinical experience. But unlike other methods such as warming the spleen and drying dampness,LIU followed his cold thought. He advocated that the spleen and stomach of the middle earth should be especially moist, not to use warmth and dryness in vain. He also pointed out that dampness often arises from heat, and that it is necessary to relieve yang heat and depression, and cold and moist products should be chosen as prescriptions. However,LIU's treatment of dampness is by no means to give warmth and heat, but more to alert the cold,so as to make the moistening and drying appropriate and smooth. |
