Abstract
    After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, ZHANG Boli, a member of the expert group of the Central Steering Group, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the president of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, arrived in Wuhan with the Central Steering Group, and promoted the significant role of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of the novel coronavirus pneumonia throughout the whole process in more than one month. In the article, Academician ZHANG responded to relevant issues of public concern such as the development situation of the epidemic in Wuhan, the role played by Chinese medicine in the battle, the improvement of the infectious disease mechanism for responding to public health emergencies, and the emergency system construction.
