| Abstract

| [Objective] To analyze the effect of Furong Tongmai Formula on carotid intima-media thickness in elderly diabetic patients.[Methods] From January 2018 to June 2019,100 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes were selected for this study. The patients were divided into observation group and control group with random number method. The patients in the control group were given routine treatment,while the observation group was given Furong Tongmai Formula on the basis of the control group. The changes of intima-media thickness (IMT),the size and quantity of carotid plaque,and the changes of carotid blood flow were compared before and after treatment.[Results] There is no significant difference in carotid intima-media thickness (CCA-IMT) and internal carotid intima-media thickness (ICA-IMT) between two groups before treatment (P>0.05),but it is lower after treatment than before treatment (P<0.05). In the observation group (1.41±0.13),(1.31±0.11) mm,IMT was lower than that in the control group (1.48±0.14),(1.37±0.15) mm,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the size and number of carotid plaques between two groups before and after treatment (P>0.05). After treatment,the number of carotid plaques in the observation group (18.41±4.06) mm3, 2.51±1.30 was lower than that in the control group (21.03±3.82) mm3,3.06±1.57,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the parameters of cerebral blood flow between two groups before and after treatment (P>0.05).[Conclusion] Furong Tongmai Formula can significantly reduce the IMT level of elderly diabetic patients,reduce carotid plaque,improve cerebral blood flow of patients,which has good clinical effect. |
