Abstract
The current pathogenesis of exfoliative cheilitis is unknown. Western medicine is mainly symptomatic, with quick effect but easy recurrence. Chinese medicine has a long history of treating exfoliative cheilitis, and its curative effect is conclusive. Professor CHEN Guofeng has rich clinical experience and unique insights into the treatment of exfoliative cheilitis. He thinks the pathogenesis of this disease is exogenous wind evil, dampness and heat endogenous, yin deficiency and blood dryness, and lip loss. He proposes that the treatment of exfoliative cheilitis is dispelling the wind, clearing dampness and nourishing the blood (yin) and he emphasizes the importance of taking care of the spleen and stomach while clearing heat-fire,which provides new methods and ideas for clinical diagnosis and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine of exfoliative cheilitis.
