Abstract
|
[Objective] To analyze the quality of case reports for treatment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine currently published in China, and to provide a basis for improving the quality of case reports for public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC),and to provide methodological references for future clinical practice and research.[Methods] Through searching the relevant literature published on CNKI and WanFang databases from January 1,2020 to March 15,2020,and screened out relevant case reports. According to Expert Consensus on the Standardization of Publication of Medical Record Reports in Traditional Chinese Medicine formulated by CARC,the quality of included literature were evaluated, and the proportion of paper reports containing each item were calculated.[Results] A total of 16 case reports were included, involving 30 medical records. The abstract and keywords of the case reports, research background, general patient status,four-diagnosis collection, diagnosis and treatment were relatively complete. However, the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) case reports still had defects and some of the reported items were lacked. About 56.3% of the case reports contain both the word "medical record" in the title and the number of reported medical cases. Only 18.8% of the case reports in the research background involve the content of informed consent. Most cases lacked obvious diagnosis criteria. In the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine decoction,62.5% of the prescriptions did not accurately record the usage and dosage of the decoction, and the relevant records of the origin and quality control of Chinese medicine decoction pieces are even rarer. The 4 medical records involving the treatment of Chinese patent medicine also lack the standards for medicine quality control. In the discussion part, about 43.8% of the articles elaborated on the basis of the selection, and only 37.5% of the articles clarified the prescription explanation.[Conclusion] The overall quality of case reports for COVID-19 with integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment need to be further improved,in order to translate the treatment concept from experiences to evidenced based practices and to provide better basis and references for high-level clinical studies related to the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. |
