Abstract
|
Cytokine storm is the key mechanism of immunopathological damage caused by novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2) infection. The activation degree of immune cells determines the severity of cytokine storm. Overactivated immune cells release a large number of cytokines, which leads to cytokine storm and multiple organ failure. Multiple organ failure caused by cytokine storm is the main cause of death in patients with severe and critically ill coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19). Traditional Chinese medicine can effectively control cytokine storm by inhibiting over-activation of immune cells and reducing inflammatory cytokines. Based on the damage mechanism of cytokine storm caused by COVID-19,this paper discusses the role of traditional Chinese medicine in preventing and treating cytokine storm, and provides reference for clarifying the pathogenesis and clinical treatment of COVID-19. |
