Abstract
This review summarizes the research literature on the treatment of knee osteoarthritis of kidney deficiency and blood stasis with traditional Chinese medicine in recent years. It is believed that "kidney deficiency" and "blood stasis" are the critical factors for developing knee osteoarthritis, and wind, cold and dampness are the exogenous inducements. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment includes Chinese oral medicine, external use of Chinese medicine, massage, acupuncture, acupotomy and knee-preserving therapy based on the concept of "bone-strengthening and tendon softening." The curative effect is definite, which can significantly improve knee joint pain and functional activities, soft tissue tension, and delay cartilage. However, it is still necessary to further enhance related basic and clinical research to reflect the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in treating knee osteoarthritis.
