Abstract
[Objective] To analyze the effects of needle warming moxibustion on the prognosis of patients with peripheral facial paralysis based on facial nerve function and scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) symptoms. [Methods] The 99 patients with peripheral facial paralysis who were treated in department of acupuncture and moxibustion of the hospital between February 2021 and November 2021 were selected as study subjects, and they were divided into the control group (treated with conventional western medicine combined with rehabilitation training,49 cases) and the treatment group(given needle warming moxibustion on the basis of the control group,50 cases) by adopting odd-even number method. Both groups were intervened for 2 weeks, and the facial nerve function, clinical efficacy,TCM symptoms scores, immune function indicators and quality of life were compared before and after intervention. [Results] After intervention, the House-Brackmann Facial Nerve Function Grading Scale(H-B) grading of patients in the treatment group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate of clinical treatment was 94.00% in the treatment group, which was better than 79.59% in the control group(P<0.05). The scores of TCM symptoms in the treatment group after intervention were lower compared with those in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin M(IgM) and immunoglobulin A(IgA) were lower in the treatment group after intervention than the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the score of physical function was higher in the treatment group than that in the control group while the score of social life function was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The incidence rate of adverse reactions was 4.00% (2/50) in the treatment group and 2.05% (1/49) in the control group (P>0.05). [Conclusion] Needle warming moxibustion can improve the facial nerve function in patients with peripheral facial paralysis, and it has a significant clinical efficacy and can reduce the TCM symptoms scores, improve the immune function and enhance the quality of life, thus it is safe and effective.
