This article retrieves the basic research literature of acupuncture in the treatment of PCOS in recent years, and summarizes the main mechanisms of action involving the following aspects:1) regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis,sympathetic-vagus nerve and β-endorphins,glycolipid metabolism to improve neuro-endocrine disorders, regulates neurotransmitter and hormone levels to relieve negative emotions;2) signal pathways that regulate inflammatory responses and inflammation-related factors inhibit inflammatory states were regulated;3) regulate the intestinal flora to correct metabolic disorders and control systemic inflammation;4) regulate the reproductive axis and ovarian function of "hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian-uterus" and improve endometrial receptivity. The mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is elaborated from the above perspectives, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical intervention of acupuncture in PCOS.
