Acupuncture is effective in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and has its own unique advantages. This article retrieves the basic research literature of acupuncture in the treatment of PCOS in recent years, and summarizes the main mechanisms of action involving the following aspects:1) regulating the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis,sympathetic-vagus nerve and β-endorphins,glycolipid metabolism to improve neuro-endocrine disorders, regulates neurotransmitter and hormone levels to relieve negative emotions;2) signal pathways that regulate inflammatory responses and inflammation-related factors inhibit inflammatory states were regulated;3) regulate the intestinal flora to correct metabolic disorders and control systemic inflammation;4) regulate the reproductive axis and ovarian function of "hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian-uterus" and improve endometrial receptivity. The mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome is elaborated from the above perspectives, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical intervention of acupuncture in PCOS. |
