Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the clinical efficacy of pediatric tuina in the treatment of mild allergic rhinitis in children. [Methods] In this study, 60 children with mild allergic rhinitis who received treatment at the Tuina Department of Second Affiliated Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2021 to March 2022 were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 30 cases in each group. The experimental group received pediatric tuina therapy, while the control group received loratadine treatment. The single symptoms(sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, and nasal itching) and total symptom scores before treatment, 2 weeks after treatment, and during a 12-month follow-up period were recorded for both groups, as well as the total effective rate and adverse reactions. [Results] After 2 weeks of treatment, symptoms of sneezing, nasal itching, runny nose, and nasal congestion in both groups of children were significantly relieved(P<0.05). Compared with control group, the score of nasal congestion symptoms in experimental group was lower, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). The total effective rate was 90.00% in the experimental group and 86.67% in the control group, and there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05). After a follow-up of 12 months, the nasal symptom score in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05). The total effective rate in the experimental group was 80.00%, which was higher than that in the control group at 53.33%, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). [Conclusion] Pediatric tuina can effectively alleviate nasal symptoms in children with mild allergic rhinitis, and the long-term therapeutic effect is stable and superior to loratadine.
