| Abstract

| ZHANG Zhongjing，who lived in the Eastern Han Dynasty，wrote Treatise on Febrile Diseasesand Miscellaneous Diseases，where theory，methods，formulas and herbs was precise and appropriate，and started the theory of the treatment according to syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese medicine in later generations.For the diseases and unique sick individuals，ZHANG Zhongjing created herbal formula by treatment based on syndrome differentiation and medical formula selcetion based on therapy. ZHANG Zhongjing’s herbal prescriptions were characterized by simplifications，definite purposes and outstanding curative effects. It was written that pharmaceutical dosage forms，decocted medicine solvents，decocting herbal method，medication method，medication frequency，the time of taking herbs，post-drug conditioning method，etc.，which makes an impact on the therapeutic effect of the disease and prognosis .This paper summarizes the methods of decocting and taking herbal medicine. |
