Abstract
[Objective] To explore the current status, hotspots, and frontiers of research on quercetin for cardiovascular diseases using Citespace and VOSviewer software. [Methods] We retrieved the Web of Science Core Collection database and used Citespace 6.1.R3 and VOSviewer 1.6.18 to conduct bibliometric analysis of authors,co-cited authors,countries,institutions,journals,co-cited literature, and keywords. [Results] A total of 897 SCI articles were included. The number of publications and citations showed exponential growth. The author with the highest publications was Croft KD,the author with the highest citations was Egert S,the most prolific country was China, and the most prolific institution was Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. Research hotspots focus on dyslipidemia,atherosclerosis,antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,vascular cell adhesion molecule-1(VCAM-1),mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling pathway, herbal medicine, and bioavailability. The prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome,MAPK signaling pathway, and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms represent future research trends in this field. The study of the effects of quercetin on gut microbes may become an emerging academic frontier in the future. [Conclusion] This study identified hotspots and trends on quercetin research in cardiovascular field from multiple dimensions through bibliometric analysis, providing references and implications for future research directions and scientific decisions.
