Effect of Xuanfei Qingluo Formula on lung histopathology and inflammatory factors in rats with MPP spasmodic cough

Abstract
    [Objective] To investigate the mechanism of pulmonary histopathology and inflammatory factors in mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia(MPP) in rats with spasmodic cough. [Methods] Sixty rats were randomly divided into blank group,mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia group,model group,azithromycin group,Xuanfei Qingluo group,Xuanfei Qingluo + azithromycin group,a total of 6 groups. The rat model of spasmodic cough after mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia infection was established by nasal drops of mycoplasma pneumoniae culture + smoke method + capsaicin solution atomization,after 14 days of successful modeling,the rats in each group were given corresponding drugs by intragastric administration,after 7 days of continuous treatment,serum interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) were detected in each group. The levels of TNF-α and the pathological changes of lung tissue in each group were observed. [Results] Compared with normal group,serum expressions of IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α were increased in mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia group and model group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);compared with model group,the levels of IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α in serum of all treatment groups were significantly decreased,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);after treatment intervention,there were no significant differences in serum contents of IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α among treatment groups(P>0.05). [Conclusion] Xuanfei Qingluo Formula can reduce the damage of lung tissue structure and the infiltration of inflammatory cells in the interstitial. It is speculated that the mechanism may be related to the inhibition of serum inflammatory factors IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α.
