Abstract
|
Knee osteoarthritis(KOA) is a common degenerative osteoarthropathy in clinical practice, which can lead to loss of joint function in the late stage and has a high disability rate. At present, there is no effective radical cure treatment. Topical preparations of traditional Chinese medicine have a long history of development and unique advantages, which play an important role in the treatment of KOA. The traditional method for topical preparations of traditional Chinese medicine has the characteristics of simple preparation process and large drug loading, while modern method for topical preparations of traditional Chinese medicine has significant advantages in improving transdermal absorption, reducing skin irritation, enhancing the efficacy durability, increasing biocompatibility, and improving use convenience. However, there are still some limitations in the preparation process, efficacy performance and use safety of the two drugs. Summarizing relevant literatures, this paper discussed the topical preparations of traditional and modern methods of traditional Chinese medicine in the application status of KOA treatment, and analyzed the key problems of topical preparations of traditional Chinese medicine, and suggested that improving the preparation process, standardization of clinical use, combining with modern technology to create new ways of drug delivery and improving formulations could be a potential research direction in the future,to treat KOA more safely and effectively. |
