Abstract
This study aims to explore the mechanism of action of irisin in knee osteoarthritis (KOA)by analyzing the “muscle-bone balance” theory. Irisin,as a muscle-secreted factor, has the potential to promote chondrocyte proliferation and inhibit muscle degeneration, demonstrating significant potential for arthritis treatment. This paper discusses the regulatory mechanisms of irisin on muscle-bone metabolism, thereby investigating the relevance of irisin to the “muscle-bone balance” theory and exploring its potential application in the treatment of KOA. The study aims to provide modern medical support for this theory, supporting and expanding the application of the “muscle-bone balance” concept, and offering new therapeutic approaches to improve KOA management.
