Abstract
Neoplastic disease is a major disease that seriously threatens human health. Although significant progress has been achieved in current first-line treatment modalities. However, many problems still exist in the whole-course management of tumors, such as treatment-related toxic and side effects, heavy symptom burden, and decreased quality of life. As an essential component of traditional medicine, acupuncture has demonstrated distinct advantages in adjunctive cancer therapy. Its mechanisms of action-such as modulation of the neuro-immune-endocrine network, remodeling of the tumor immune microenvironment, and mitigation of treatmentrelated adverse reactions-are becoming increasingly well elucidated, and its clinical value is steadily gaining recognition. This article systematically reviews the evidence and mechanisms of acupuncture in oncology, examines the conceptual basis, developmental context, and strategic position of oncology acupuncture, delineates its developmental goals across the dimensions of clinical practice standardization, scientific advancement, and disciplinary institutionalization, and formally introduces“oncology acupuncture”as a nascent interdisciplinary field for the first time. The establishment of oncology acupuncture offers a pivotal model for modernizing traditional medicine while creating a new pathway toward patientcentered, integrated cancer care. It is expected to contribute more significantly to future precision oncology and overall cancer management, contributing to improved health and well-being for cancer patients globally.
