| Abstract

| Respiratory syncytial virus infection is a major cause of acute lower respiratory tract infection，especially in children under five years of age，elderly，and immunocompromised individuals，with high transmissibility，and has caused tremendous economic and social burdens worldwide. At present，there is no safe and effective drug that has been developed both domestically and internationally，while traditional Chinese medicine，with its core therapeutic principle of “expel pathogenic factors and reinforce healthy qi”，clinical prevention and control practice，extensive sources of drugs，and unique treatment methods，has become the focus of research. Previous studies have shown that the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine，such multi-component，multi-target，and multi-pathway effects，fit perfectly with the requirements of “expel pathogenic factors to eliminate the source of disease，and reinforce healthy qi to consolidate the root of the body”，making it extremely advantageous and potential in the prevention and treatment of respiratory syncytial virus infection. This article will summarize the research progress single traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of respiratory syncytial virus infection based on the theory of “expel pathogenic factors and reinforce healthy qi”，order to provide a theoretical basis for the extensive clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and treatment of respiratory syncytial virus infection. |
