| Abstract
|
| [Objective] To Evaluate the clinical efficacy of governor vessel moxibustion combined with acupoint embedding for postpartum obesity with spleen-kidney yang deficiency. A prospective,single-center,randomized controlled clinical trial. [Methods] A total of 92 patients with postpartum obesity of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type who received treatment from November 2022 to June 2024 and completed 6-month follow-up were enrolled. Participants were divided into an electroacupuncture group(24 cases),governor vessel moxibustion group(32 cases),and a combined group receiving both governor vessel moxibustion and acupoint embedding (36 cases). All groups received three treatment courses. Parameters including body weight(BW),body mass index(BMI),waist circumference(WC),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores, and adverse reactions were statistically analyzed before and after treatment. [Results] For the combined therapy group, significant improvements in core indicators such as BMI and hip circumference(HC)were observed in the time and group interaction effects(P<0.05). Inter-group comparisons revealed that the combined therapy group showed significantly greater improvements in BW(66.26 to 63.00 kg),BMI (26.31 to 24.33 kg/m2),and WC(82.11 to 79.00 cm)at post-treatment and all follow-up time points compared to both the electro-acupuncture and governor vessel moxibustion groups(P<0.05). At the 6 -month follow-up,the WHR(0.69 ± 0.04)of the combined therapy group was also significantly better than that of the other two groups(P<0.05). Furthermore,at post-treatment and all follow-up time points, the improvement rate of symptom scores in the combined therapy group demonstrated a significantly superior time and group interaction effect compared to the other two groups(P<0.05),with the lowest overall incidence of adverse events(52.78%)and no occurrence of severe adverse events. [Conclusion] This study preliminarily demonstrates that governor vessel moxibustion and acupoint embedding can effectively improve BW,BMI,WC,WHR,and TCM syndrome scores in patients with postpartum obesity of spleen-kidney yang deficiency type. Its therapeutic efficacy is superior to electroacupuncture or governor vessel moxibustion alone, with a favorable safety profile. The advantage stems from the synergistic effect between the immediate warming and tonifying action of governor vessel moxibustion and the sustained stimulation of acupoint embedding, making it worthy of clinical promotion. |
