Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the clinical effect of the treatment of acute knee osteoarthritis(KOA) by sticking needle “outside knee point” combined with manipulation. [Methods] The 92 patients with acute KOA admitted to our hospital from March 2022 to March 2024 were divided into two groups by random number table method. The control group received 6 weeks of treatment at “knee outside point”,and the observation group received 6 weeks of treatment at “knee outside point” combined with regulation. Efficacy, knee pain, function, imaging parameters, laboratory indicators and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. [Results] During the treatment,2 cases fell off,and the remaining 90 cases completed the treatment,45 cases in the control group and 45 cases in the observation group. The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Visual analogue scales(VAS) score,Lequesne index,Western ontario and mcmaster universities osteoarthritis index(WOMAC)score, serum tumor necrosis factor -α(TNF-α)and interleukin-6(IL-6) levels in both groups after treatment were decreased compared with before treatment(P<0.05),lower extremity functional scale(LEFS) score was increased compared with before treatment(P<0.05),lateral joint space and medial joint space were increased compared with before treatment(P<0.05). VAS score,Lequesne index,WOMAC score, serum TNF-α and IL-6 levels in observation group were lower than those in control group after treatment(P<0.05),LEFS score, lateral joint space and medial joint space were higher than those in control group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05). [Conclusion] The combination of stick acupuncture with “knee outside point” can effectively inhibit inflammation, reduce pain and improve knee joint function.
