Abstract
The etiological mechanism of atherosclerosis is complex, which can lead to the damage of large and medium-sized blood vessels in the whole body, leading to coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, carotid atherosclerosis, ischemic stroke and other diseases. Endothelial cell injury is the initial link of atherosclerosis. It is of great significance to further clarify the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis. Phlegm stasis is an important pathological factor in the formation of atherosclerosis, and the stagnation of phlegm and blood stasis is a common treatment for atherosclerosis. At present,a number of studies on endothelial function and endothelial cells have been reported including clinical studies and basic studies. The stagnation of phlegm and blood stasis can protect endothelial function by regulating vasomotor factors, vascular endothelial inflammation, vascular remodeling, vascular microenvironment and other mechanisms. In this paper, the mechanism and clinical research progress of the stagnation of phlegm and blood stasis with TCM for the prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic endothelial injury were reviewed.
