Abstract:
The nineteen provisions for pathogenesis of Inner Canon of Huangdi is the general principle of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) pathogenesis theory. In order to study the true meaning of the pathogenesis of five viscera, this paper takes the pathogenesis of liver disease as an example and takes the wind and wood of nature as the source domain and the human body as the target domain from the perspective of conceptual metaphor to reproduce the theoretical construction process of “all wind with shaking and vertigo, all belongs to the liver”. That is,the ancients were swayed by the strong wind blowing trees in nature, and realized that the disturbance of human qi affecting the liver would make people shake and dizzy. It is believed that the core of this sentence is “all the wind belongs to the liver”,and the clinical extension is that the wind disease can be treated from the liver, and the wind medicine can be used to regulate the liver. And enumerate the experience of ancient and modern doctors to prove. To explore the pathogenesis of liver disease from the perspective of conceptual metaphor is not only helpful to understand the profound connotation and clinical value of the theory of “all wind with shaking and vertigo, all belongs to the liver”,but also can provide reference research ideas and methods for exploring the pathogenesis of other five viscera. This paper reveals the significance of conceptual metaphor for the construction and development of TCM pathogenesis theory.
Key words:  conceptual metaphor  nineteen provisions for pathogenesis  pathogenesis of five viscera
