Abstract:
Sleep disorders are a common complication after stroke, with a high incidence rate that severely impacts patients’neurological recovery and quality of life. The article systematically reviews the core connotations of the theory of“integration of body and spirit”and its interpretation of the pathogenesis of post-stroke insomnia as “mutual impairment between body and spirit”. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)emphasizes a holistic view through the“integration of body and spirit”theory, asserting that the body and spirit are interdependent and mutually reinforcing. Harmony between body and spirit ensures health, while disharmony leads to disease, providing unique theoretical guidance and therapeutic approaches for the rehabilitation of post-stroke insomnia. Using this pathogenesis as a framework, this article categorizes various TCM rehabilitation techniques—including acupuncture, herbal medicine,Tuina, auricular acupoints,Five-Element music, and traditional exercises—into three types:“regulating the body”“regulating the spirit”and“co-regulation of body and spirit”. It systematically reviews the current research progress on their application and establishes a direct correspondence between these techniques and the pathogenesis. Furthermore,it explores the multidimensional mechanisms of their“co-regulation of body and spirit”by integrating modern rehabilitation medicine theories, revealing a systemic regulatory network for body-spirit interaction. The aims to offer valuable insights for promoting the application of TCM rehabilitation techniques in managing post-stroke insomnia.
